Political Prisoners Gallery
The U.N estimates that Burma’s prison system holds approximately 2,100 political prisoners. Many are given prison sentences ranging from 65-104 years and are sentenced in closed-door hearings without legal representation in violation of international standards of justice. The most recent example of Burma’s sham judicial system is the trial of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who is facing a trial both substantively and procedurally defective.
